NFRT Wins Taranaki Regional Council Environmental Award
We’re very pleased to announce that the Native Forest Restoration Trust was one of three winners in the Environmental action in the community category at last night’s Taranaki Regional Council Environmental Awards. The award is for “restoration and permanent guardianship of native forest habitats” and was in recognition of our collaborative efforts with the QEII Trust, the Department of Conservation, Taranaki Regional Council and New Plymouth District Council to protect and enhance two valuable native bush and wetland blocks in Taranaki.
Biodiversity plans, prepared with the regional council, set out ongoing management, pest control and restoration of habitat for species such as the North Island brown kiwi, New Zealand falcon, whio, and native bats and fish.
Chair, Tim Oliver, was on hand to accept the award on behalf of NFRT. A big thanks to Taranaki Regional Council for organising the event and recognising the hard work of everyone involved!
